Chicken soup on Friday night. The light in a child’s eyes when she reads her first Hebrew word. A helping hand in times of need. Chabad is a home away from home for every Jew in Berkeley. We are dedicated to serving our community - and now we’re asking for your support to help us renovate our new Chabad House on University Avenue, together.
Renovating a warehouse-like building into a warm Jewish center requires a major investment of time, energy, and capital. Stripping the walls to the hipster brick arches, installing wood flooring, ADA compliant bathrooms, a HVAC system, kitchen remodeling, creating modern offices, and synagogue halls all take significant resources. Rather than charging membership fees or exorbitant event prices, which could alienate some people, we rely on the generosity of the community that we serve. To that end, generous donors have come forward with a proposal to help Chabad renovate our property purchased last December 31, 2019. They will each donate to our center, provided that it is matched by an equal donation from our you, our community. For this 3-day period only, your dollar will have double the impact!
You can be a partner in everything we do to benefit the residents of Berkeley by contributing to our campaign, and by spreading the word. Maimonides says that every good deed, no matter how small, tips the scale of humanity toward goodness. Today you have the opportunity to see the impact of that deed multiplied many times over. Join us by making a donation today!
We look forward to greeting you in the newly refurbished Chabad House very soon indeed!
